Description: There is a genuine mystique about dry cleaning with imaginations generally running wild, assuming that the process is almost magic i.e., we waive a magic wand of steam, the stain is gone and the job is complete. Dry cleaning is in fact a total process that commences the very moment that the garment is left at one of our retail outlets or dropped off at one of our agency outlets located across Melbourne. Dry cleaning uses solvents to remove soil and stains from fabric. The process is referred to as dry cleaning because the solvent used contains little or no water and therefore does not penetrate the fibres as does water washing. Dry cleaning has the ability to dissolve greases and oil in a way that water cannot. It helps to return garments to a like new condition and uses precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of colour and fabric distortion. The solvent used by 90% of dry cleaners is PERCHLOROETHYLENE, commonly known as "PERC". At Deluxe we have two "BOWE" 5th Generation Perc machines. One of the machines is used excusively for white and very light colour garments and the other machine is used for mid range colours. This segregation ensures that whites and lights will always be at their brilliant best as the solvents can never be contaminated. All darker garments are processed in our two Union Perc machines. At Deluxe we also have the added advantage of the "WHITE SPIRITS" process. This process allows us to expertly care for very delicate garments such as Wedding Gowns, High Fashion Garments, Beaded Garments, Silks etc. White Spirits is a totally different solvent to "Perc" and the white spirit machine is very different to the Perc machines. Very few of our competitors can offer you this secondary and very specialised process. A drycleaning machine looks much like a very large front loading home washer. It produces similar mechanical action to loosen embedded dirt and at the same time the solvent is continuously filtered to insure clarity. At Deluxe we always insure that our machines are charged with the highest quality detergents. These detergents assist in the cleaning process and they also have conditioning and antistatic bodies in them. The dry cleaning starts with a pre-clean inspection, garments are checked and classified appropriately. Stains are checked and pre-treated. The dry cleaning machine cycles are progammed according to fibre classification and are followed by post-clean inspection. This involves stain check and re-treat, if necessary. The garments are then sorted and sent through to the appropriate finishing area.
