Dr. Curtis is the proprietor of the Toorak Psychology Practice, a private business located in inner Melbourne with in the City of Stonnington. The practice provides counselling, clinical assessments, focused psychological strategies, and psychotherapies. Clients include adolescents, adults, elderly, individuals, and couples. Dr. Curtis specialises in comorbidity and medical psychology. These include anxiety/depression, anxiety/alcohol dependency, acute & chronic physical/mental illness, deprerssion/relationship conflict, anxiety/personality difficulties, life stage transitions, and coping with acute and chronic mental illness. Current research interests include the phenomenology of affective psychosis and coping styles in psychosis. Dr. Curtis also conducts research on the effects of terrorism on Australians' psychological well-being and presents papers on related topics such as the effects of terrorism via the media on mental health. Over the years whilst a Registered Nurse with Psychiatric specialisation, Dr. Curtis developed an extensive network of mental health professionals. Since moving to psychology she has maintained this network for the purpose of liaison and referral in order to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Of importance, she works collaboratively with her clients and believes that, with support and empathy, her clients ultimately find the best solution to the problems that they presented with. Dr. Curtis is guided by the APS Code of Practice and Professional Standards for Psychologists in Private Practice. She is a registered provider for Generalist Medicare Rebates with a valid GP/Psychiatrist Referral, which is a result of the "Medicare Better Access to Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and General Practitioners through the Medicare Benefits Scheme Initiative".She also is a registered provider with certain Private Health Insurance Companies. | |||
